Bio
Andy Landers is among the elite ranks of women’s basketball coaches in the history of the sport.
The Georgia native came to Roane State in the fall of 1975 and coached the Lady Raiders for four seasons. Under Landers, the team went 82-21, never losing more than seven games in a single season. He was named TJCAA Women’s Coach of the Year in 1977.
Landers went on to lead the University of Georgia women’s basketball program from 1979 to 2015. His legacy there includes:

- 23 NCAA Tournament appearances
- 5 Final Four berths
- 7 Sweet Sixteen appearances
- 4 SEC regular season championships
- 4 SEC Tournament championships
- 3-time SEC Coach of the Year
- 1-time USBWA National Coach of the Year
- Member of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame (2007)
- Member of the State of Georgia Sports Hall of Fame (2009)
Landers inspired countless others to enter the coaching profession and his contributions to the game are widely recognized. A legendary coach, mentor, and ambassador for women’s basketball, Landers began his decorated career right here at Roane State.
