Bio

Josh Heard, originally from Hartwell, Georgia, graduated high school in 1996 and signed to play for Roane State under Coach Randy Nesbit.

A Roane State star, Heard set multiple three-point records, received the Eastern Conference Player of the Year award, and his team was ranked in the NJCAA Top 25.

In 1998, he committed to play at Tennessee Tech University and continued performing at a high level. Heard helped the team go 20-8 his senior season, the 2000–2001 season.

Heard was known for his explosive scoring ability and broke records for three-pointers in a season at both Roane State and Tech. He finished his career with more than 1,000 points.

Heard went on to play professional basketball in Finland before returning to Tennessee to begin his coaching career.

He currently serves as the boys’ and girls’ basketball coach at Cookeville High School. He also runs an AAU program called MOJO AAU Basketball for both upper and lower teams. In 2018, he was named District Coach of the Year and built an elite basketball student program at Cookeville High School.
